How am I Doing this Week? What do I Plan to do?

5 min read

For this week, I had a lot of intensive classes, the most demanding of which has to be English 210, where I had to work on my resume, job application, and a website/portfolio. So far, I am not doing great. While I am trying to build my CV, it is very rudimentary, missing a lot of experiences I had, and not very pertinent as I would have wanted it to be. So far, for this semester, it hasn't been the best, though my journey so far has been decent. Since some of the stuff that will be mentioned here will be related to personal events, this blog will be short, as I don't want to share everything.

As you know, I am an international student from Morocco. I studied science math B, which is a program that blends engineering with high school classes. So I got a lot of experience, but not many opportunities were available in Morocco, so I didn't do anything of note. Next comes my university education, which was filled with stress, but not because of the courses; most of the stress stemmed from conflicts that arose from the fact that I am international. I have had problems with housing, as well as some people here. I have never seen the inside of an emergency room till I had to go there 6 consecutive times in 3 days because of pesticides. I had to drop a lot of what I was working on and wasn't able to progress toward most of my goals in previous semesters because of these issues.

I plan for this semester to be different. I want to work more, as I am frankly not enjoying my classes. I have worked on some research and projects, but as I see it, that work is not enough. As of right now, I have decided to take 19 credit hours this semester so I can get both the math and physics minor while only taking 13 credit hours in my next semester and 31 total in my senior year. I plan to free up a lot of my time so I can work more on research and dive into internships. Finally, I will try to do summer research or internships this year, as they weren't available to me before, as I couldn't afford to not see my family, as well as pay more for housing. Only time will tell.
